A little Cave in Belfast

Image
It's been a long time since I was in OxCave right here in Belfast, next to Ox Cave restaurant on Oxford Street and almost opposite the big blue fish. I was so delighted to see a Gin Menu alongside the delicious wine cellar. It's a must to try before you dine in Ox or if you want to settle for a glass of wine and cheese, olives after work alone or with friends in the ambient candlelite room. I didn't sample any Gin on this visit because I was already settled with my glass of white Sauvignon Blanc The Holysnail which can be purchased from Direct Wine Shipments. Here's some of the Gins you can find  Shortcrossgin Blackwater Jawboxgin Boatyarddistillery Thingin1 Theexilesgin Berthasrevengegin The staff are polite, knowledgeable and so friendly. If you call in the lovely smiley lady is Mine who hails from Turkey and Fabian who served us on our visit. THE AMBIENT SETTING OF OX CAVE THE DELICIOUS GIN MENU I LOVE THIS RUSTIC LOOK CHEES G

Where's mummy on mother's day

Image
If there's one thing I can ask for tomorrow on #mothersday is a chance to hug my mummy just one more time. I don't remember laughing as much with anyone else as I did with her. We were like two little school girls giggling and making fun during every conversation and social outing. My best friend and the most important person in my life passed away suddenly 10 years ago in South Africa. I was here in Northern Ireland when I got the news and made the agonizing journey home to say goodbye forever. How I longed for a chance to say goodbye or see her smiling face before she left me in this big bad world. My life changed on that dull day. She broke my heart but somehow continues to cheer me on. I think of her every moment of every day. So tomorrow for me, give your mum an extra hug and spare a thought for those of us who will not get a chance to spend time with our mum's # happymotherday

Happy Valentine's

Image
I have a little secret to share. I wrote this over the Valentine's weekend! As with a lot of things I blame this on my mother, for as long as I can remember she used to bounce into my bedroom on Valentine's Day with 'Happy Valentine's day, and now it's time to get up to celebrate the day'. This was my first experience as a little girl to St Valentine's. As I grew older Valentine's seemed to be more for couples showing their love by sending flowers, cards, balloons and saucy lingerie! and for all unintentional purposes to make single people feel intensely jealous that they're alone. Valentine's day for me is about loving a person, family, friend, lover, husband or wife. So don't overcompensate for just one day, show love every day all year round with no need for extra expense. Commercialism, I am not a fan! So this us what I'm doing this year, having a lie in, pjs on , relaxing and I'm changing the rules this year. I'm buying him

Meat feast

There is only one thing to do on a cold rainy Saturday, close the drapes, turn the heat up and cosy up to a movie! That's exactly what I ended up doing yesterday and found myself watching Frozen ❄❄ and in the meantime my other half not only made pancakes for breakfast from also the most delicious steak and kidney pie for dinner served with mash. I'm not overly found of kidney but cut them so small I didn't even notice and it added to the taste of the pie. He cut the leftover shop bought shortcrust pastry into little pieces and threw them into the gravy ,  pressure cooked these and omg they were the most scrumptious little balls of delight similar to a dumpling and just like that my Saturday was complete.
